Chumaky Solar Power Plant

Utility-Scale Solar EPC Case Study

The Chumaky Solar Power Plant (also known as Umitli Dnipro Solar Power Plant) is a utility-scale photovoltaic project located in the Dnipropetrovsk region of Ukraine. The project was implemented by Avenston for Turkish investor Ümitli Enerji and became the first solar power plant delivered within a three-project renewable energy portfolio developed for the investor in Ukraine.

With an installed capacity of 5.7 MW and a site area of approximately 8 hectares, the project reflects Avenston’s practical experience in the development, engineering, implementation, and operation of utility-scale renewable energy assets.

Project Overview

  • Project Name: Chumaky Solar Power Plant
  • Alternative Name: Umitli Dnipro Solar Power Plant
  • Location: Dnipropetrovsk Region, Ukraine
  • Technology: Ground-Mounted Solar PV
  • Installed Capacity: 5.7 MW
  • Site Area: Approximately 8 hectares
  • Investor: Ümitli Enerji (Türkiye)
  • Status: Operational
  • Commissioning Year: 2019

Avenston’s Role

Avenston participated in the implementation of the project across multiple stages, including:

  • project management;
  • engineering and design;
  • procurement coordination;
  • construction management;
  • grid connection support;
  • commissioning activities;
  • operational support.

The successful delivery of the project required close coordination among the investor, equipment suppliers, contractors, grid operators, and local stakeholders throughout all implementation phases.

Project Significance

Chumaky was the first solar power plant implemented by Avenston for Ümitli Enerji in Ukraine and established the foundation for a long-term cooperation between the investor and the company.

Following the successful completion of the project, two additional utility-scale solar power plants were developed for the same investor — Novopetrivka Solar Power Plant (Umitli-2) and Katerynivka Solar Power Plant (Umitli-3).

Together, these projects formed a solar energy portfolio exceeding 25 MW of installed capacity and demonstrate Avenston’s capability to successfully deliver renewable energy projects for international investors in Ukraine.

Experience and Expertise

Projects such as Chumaky demonstrate Avenston’s practical experience in delivering utility-scale renewable energy projects and reflect expertise in:

  • project development and structuring;
  • technical and commercial assessment;
  • engineering and implementation management;
  • grid connection processes;
  • stakeholder coordination;
  • renewable energy asset operations.

The experience gained through projects such as Chumaky forms an important part of the expertise that Avenston brings today to renewable energy partnerships in Ukraine.
