Solar-Expo Solar Power Plant Investment Project

Investment & Asset Management Case Study

This project demonstrates the investment and asset management experience of Avenston’s founders. Rather than acting as the EPC contractor, the team participated as equity investors, gaining practical experience throughout the entire project lifecycle—from investment and construction oversight to commercial operation and the successful sale of the operating asset.

Unlike Avenston’s EPC projects, this case highlights the founders’ experience as investors and asset owners, demonstrating expertise across the commercial lifecycle of renewable energy investments.

The project involved the development, operation, and successful commercialization of a 1 MWp utility-scale solar power plant in the Dnipro region of Ukraine. Construction was completed in 2021, and the facility commenced commercial operation under Ukraine’s Feed-in Tariff (FIT) support scheme.

As co-investors, the project team participated in key investment decisions, project coordination, technical oversight, operational management, and commercial optimization. The plant utilized bifacial photovoltaic modules, fixed-tilt mounting structures, and grid-connected architecture designed for long-term commercial electricity generation.

Following several years of successful commercial operation, the project achieved its investment objectives. The operating asset was subsequently acquired by a strategic investor, completing the full investment lifecycle—from project development and commissioning to long-term operation and successful exit.

Beyond its financial performance, this investment provided first-hand experience in renewable energy project finance, operational asset management, electricity market participation, and project valuation. It further strengthened Avenston’s understanding of renewable energy projects from an investor’s perspective, complementing the company’s engineering, development, and EPC capabilities.
