Ivanivka-1 Solar PV Power Plant

Utility-Scale Solar EPC Case Study

This project showcases the experience gained by our team through renewable energy projects delivered under the Rentechno brand, which laid the foundation for the establishment of the Avenston Group in 2018. The case reflects the practical expertise developed across project development, engineering, construction, and the successful delivery of utility-scale renewable energy projects.

Ivanivka PV power plant was designed and launched by our group as a full-cycle EPC contractor. We performed all work on this facility, starting from getting grid permissions up to the commissioning and green tariff. Solar power plant facility design was projected to optimize the equipment and components to minimize power losses and maximize the specific generation. Also, due to quite hard conditions overshadowed by external objects, there was a completed 3D simulation of the facility.

The project is a great example of the successful use of solar PV power farms for agricultural businesses. Solar energy technologies are increasingly being implemented in various areas of the economy and business. Agro-industrial enterprises are increasingly investing in commercial solar power plants both for their electricity consumption and for their sale to the external grid. A solar power plant for agriculture is a reliable and efficient investment for companies of all sizes and forms of ownership.

Basic technological equipment is multicrystalline silicon modules with 250 W output, linear 3-phase Aurora invertors with solar power-station monitoring system and 3 pcs of 0,4/10 kV transformer substations. Total power output of installed solar modules reaches 1 341 kW. Due to special licensed software and also careful component optimization during object design works power station succeeded to provide the enhanced annual level of electric power generation.

Ivanivka solar photovoltaic power station was built in 2013 in the Kirovograd region of Ukraine. The power plant covers an area of 2,7 hectares of installed photovoltaic modules with 1,341 MW total power. This facility was built to produce Eco and clean electricity and its further sale to the grid via “green tariff”. The solar power plant is designed using string inverters manufactured by Power One corporation with 27.6 kW output power, and 250 W multi-crystalline silicon modules. All inverters are combined into three groups, which are connected to 0,4/10 kV transformer substations.

Solar power plant facility design was projected to optimize the equipment and components in order to minimize power losses and to maximize the specific generation. Also, due to quite hard conditions over shadowed by external objects, there was completed 3D simulation of the facility to identify possible shading of solar modules at any time. The result has chosen the best solution to place equipment on the site without the appearance of any not controlled losses.

The station is controlled by a self-monitoring system, which allows to analyze its state from any location in the world. An automated electricity control and accounting system calculates the amount of electric energy produced by the station in a given time interval.

Rentechno acted as general contractor for the project, obtaining necessary permits for the power plant building and its connection to the power grid; completing geological and geodetic exploratory works. The company designed the facility, purchased and delivered all equipment and components to the construction site, and accomplished solar power plant turnkey construction, which was finalised by operating personnel education and commissioning of the plant. Our stuff also provided legal support related to the formal issues of “green” tariff implementation (electric power producer’s license registration, membership in the Wholesale Market of electric power, expert evaluation on determination of actual proportion of local content, signing of agreement on the electric power sale with Energorynok State Enterprise and obtaining NERC permit on “green” tariff).
