Solar PV Station (PV farm or PV power plant) – a type of power generating facilities, using direct conversion of solar energy into electricity. Actually it is on-grid PV systems that generate electricity for transmission over the “green” tariff (Feed-in tariff) to a grid. Production of electricity from solar power has big opportunity for distributed generation.

The main advantages of network solar power plants are:

  • The use of free, renewable energy, practically available in unlimited amounts, – solar radiation, which, among other things, has no need to deliver to the place of electricity generation.

  • The possibility of using not only free space for the construction of a solar power plant but also one that is used inefficiently or not at all, such as the facades and roofs of buildings that allows not only saving the territory, but also significantly reduces investment in the construction of the solar power plant.
  • The amounts of generation of electricity several times exceed those that were spent on its production.
  • The high speed of return on investment – investments in solar power pay off faster today, than in the oil and gas industry.

Construction of on-grid PV power plants

To date, several technologies have been developed and actively used to generate solar energy on an industrial scale. In the design and construction of solar power plants that use the photoelectric effect, our company uses silicon photovoltaic modules of ground application, which are characterized by optimal price / quality ratio. Currently, this technology of transforming solar energy into electric power is dominant and, according to experts, will remain for such, at least, the next 15-20 years. The design of the solar panels of the specified type allows to provide high efficiency, combined with high reliability and protection of solar stations. The advantage of photoelectric modules of this type is their very long lifespan – not less than 25-30 years. At the same time, the reduction in power caused by the natural aging of components, which include the photovoltaic module, is no more than 20% after 25 years of operation of the solar power plant.

Work of on-grid solar power plants for own consumption

Solar power stations may also be intended for generating electricity for further use in the internal electricity grid of objects of any destination: residential buildings, industrial or office premises, store or warehouses, shops and entertainment complexes, gas stations, etc. The power plant of this type varies depending on the installation – ground (both in the immediate vicinity and some distant objects) or the roof option, fastening on the facade, etc. In order to ensure complete energy autonomy of the facility and reserve the power, it is possible to install a system of energy accumulation (storage batteries), as well as software that controls the process of accumulation and optimal use of stored energy.

Such power systems do not require the use of additional sources of energy or fuel, which makes it possible to save significantly by giving up external power supply.
